Just over 11 weeks

Took Torren to Bass Pro yesterday. I'm SO proud of how well he did! He simply relaxed by my feet ant took it all in. There were lots of people and things going on. When someone looked particularly interesting to him he'd get up and say "Hi!"

He hasn't had an "accident" in the house for 3 days now! I'm SO proud of our baby boy!

His ears still haven't gone up, but one of them is trying. It's SO cute! Instead of standing upright, it lays across his head! Hehehe.

I SO enjoy watching Athen and Torren interact. Athen is so in love with him. He's taught him
'sit' and 'down' so far, and I'm working on 'stand.' He is one SMART cookie!

The story thus far...

Tuesday, October 13, 2009 Torren is flown from New York to Louisiana. When I first lay eyes on him he is EXTREMELY happy to introduce himself, though he smells HORRIBLE after having an accident in his kennel along the way.

Drive home. Time for introductions. Sasha and Torren are introduced across the street in an open field. Sasha doesn't appear happy about it at ALL and wants nothing to do with him. I take them for a short walk. Same response. We get into the back yard, and a light switch goes off. Suddenly she wants to PLAY! I let them do their thing for a bit then take them inside. Sasha is curious. First stop? A bath!

He didn't like that so much, but he came out smelling like a rose :) Lots of playing, exploring, waiting for Daddy to come home. Daddy comes home finally and it's love at first sight! More playing, feeding, potty time, time for bed! Kennel time!

He did NOT like being locked in the kennel. We made the mistake of putting it in the dining room. With tiled flooring it sounded as though he was in the room with us. At about 1am Athen had had enough. The night ended with him sleeping with him on the floor, pilates mat as a mattress, shoes still on, passed out with a puppy in his arms. Needless to say, though, we got very little sleep.

Wednesday.

Kennel was moved into "gym room." Mee-Maw came for a visit! I noticed earlier that the only place I couldn't hear him whining was in the bathroom, so we decided to make a pallet in the closet (it's a very LARGE closet!). Needless to say we both slept well that night. I woke up at 2:30 to take him out to potty and he was asleep. (YEAH!)

Thursday.

I thought it would be a great idea to buy him an x-pen to play in while we were gone, so he didn't have to stay in his kennel all day. I get home at lunch to check in on him and I find shit. Everywhere. I clean it up and feed him, take him out and it's back to work. When I get home again there was thankfully no more accidents. Some more crate training. A noticeable difference! It only took him 20 minutes to quiet down. Another night in the closet for us, just in case.

Friday.

Let's try this x-pen thing one more time. Athen gets home early. The weather is too beautiful to work! He finds shit. Everywhere. Nope, this isn't going to work. Thankfully that was the only accident he had the whole day! GOOD puppy!! We decide to try and sleep in our bed. Not a peep! Woohoo!!! We also decided to try letting him sleep the whole night. No accidents! Man I love this pup!

Saturday.

Vet visit! Slight case of round worms. Treatment given. All fixed! He had two accidents in the house. One was totally my fault for not taking him out after his nap. The other was also poor timing on our part. We'll get it soon!
